Surprised

Johan Luijmes, artistic director of the Orgelpark, looked surprised when, after the beautiful concert with Spectra Ensemble in which I provided the electronic component, I told him about my two positive organs and the music I made for them.

This led to a concert on 25 May 2024. It was titled ‘Speaker Whistles’, which in turn surprised me.

In the organ paradise

Is there a more beautiful setting imaginable than the Orgelpark to present my self-made positive organs with my self-made music in a solo concert?

Except for one Renaissance piece, the programme is filled with my own compositions. These organ music will be accompanied a few times by 8-channel acousmatic music. Most of the songs also have a accompanying video.

And then there are the Speaker Whistles. The Orgelpark also chose this last element as a title for the concert. Therefore, they will also play live in some pieces.

Finally, the beautiful baroque ‘hyper organ’ Utopa will also play along in three pieces. A very varied concert.

The concert programme consists of a few major parts

1. Installation: ‘Frogs in a rice field’ - 蛙が田んぼに居る
   Followed by an acousmatic composition in which the loudspeaker whistles play live.
2. Then the organ section begins with a short but beautiful introduction to the organ sound with a Gaillarde from the Renaissance.
3. This is followed by compositions created with self-programmed algorithms as a tool, as well as some compositions that could be placed under the heading ‘New Traditional Folk Music’.li>
4. After the break, the project ‘How beautiful is the future ?’ will be performed in its entirety, with video and live speaker whistles. In this project, some perceptions of our world, are juxtaposed in a musical way. The listener can simply enjoy it or further reflect on it.
